Aabahan is the annual Durga Pujo and Dasara celebration organised by and for the residents of HM World City, JP Nagar 9th Phase, Bangalore. The name Aabahan — meaning "invitation" in Bengali — reflects our spirit of welcoming everyone into the warmth of our community festival.
What began as a small gathering of like-minded families has grown into a vibrant, multi-day celebration that brings together residents from diverse cultural backgrounds — united by a shared love for tradition, community, and festivity.
Entirely volunteer-run, Aabahan is a testament to what a community can achieve when it comes together with purpose and joy.
Bringing people together through culture, devotion, and celebration
Our mission is simple: to create a space where tradition thrives, community bonds deepen, and every resident — regardless of their background — feels welcome and included.
Durga Pujo and Dasara both celebrate the triumph of good over evil. At Aabahan, we honour both traditions equally, creating a celebration that reflects the beautiful cultural diversity of HM World City.
Beyond the rituals and performances, Aabahan is about belonging. It is about neighbours becoming family, and shared memories that last a lifetime.
The values that guide everything we do
Every decision we make puts our community at the centre. Aabahan exists because of and for the people of HM World City.
We welcome residents of all backgrounds, cultures, and traditions. Aabahan is a festival for everyone — no one is a stranger here.
We take pride in preserving cultural traditions and passing them on to the next generation through authentic rituals and performances.
Aabahan is built entirely on volunteer effort. The dedication of our residents is what makes each year's celebration truly special.
At its heart, Aabahan is a celebration of life — filled with music, dance, art, laughter, and the joy of being together.
We are grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, and every resident who makes Aabahan possible year after year.
Aabahan was born from a simple desire: to bring the magic of Durga Pujo to the heart of HM World City. A group of residents came together with a shared vision — to create not just a puja, but a true community festival that reflects the diversity and warmth of the people who call this place home.
Over the years, Aabahan has grown in scale and spirit. What started with a small gathering has flourished into a multi-day celebration featuring cultural competitions, devotional evenings, art showcases, dandiya nights, and the deeply emotional Sindoor Khela.
In 2025, Aabahan welcomed celebrated guests including actress Priyanka Upendra, further affirming its place as a significant cultural event in Bangalore's festive calendar.
